Santiago Martínez Peral holds a degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid, where he completed his studies in painting (1998) and printmaking (1997), furthering his training with an Erasmus scholarship at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice in 1996.

His work is organized into thematic series including Walks of life, , Queretana, Cahier du Brussels, Bone Machine, The hug, Ani- mals with things inside, When We Were Fishes, Cavities, Joints and People in a Hurry, Nocturnes, Heads, Castaways, Shadows, Offals and Towards the island.

He has developed his artistic practice in international contexts through residencies in countries such as Portugal (Cortex Frontal, Arraiolos, 2023 and 2025), China (A Centric Space, Shanghai, 2024), the Netherlands (Art House Holland, 2020 and 2022), Mexico (Art House Pani, Querétaro, 2021), Iceland (Fish Factory, 2019), and Spain (JOYA: AIR, Almería, 2018).

His work has been exhibited in centers and galleries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Recent projects include participation in group exhibitions such as Bufet Libre (CentroCentro, Madrid, 2025), Dog Days (A Centric Space, Shanghai, 2024), Todos Somos Contingentes (Estart Space Gallery, Madrid, 2024), JustLX (Lisbon, Portugal, 2022), and De Genere: Art Without Gender at MA- QRO, Museo de la Ciudad de Querétaro (Mexico). In the United States, he has been part of the group shows Through the Looking Glass (Los Angeles, 2023) and Transcendence (Maison Lune, Los Angeles, 2022), both curated by Gaïa Jaquet Matisse

His solo exhibitions include Transforming (Martin’s Atelier, Brussels, 2020) and earlier shows such as About heads and cas- taways(2012), Interiors,firmaments and children ́s games (2009), Towards the Island (2007), and The monkey on the step (2005), all held at the Begoña Malone Gallery in Madrid.

He has expanded his painting into other disciplines, such as creating backdrops for the playwright Hugo Pérez de la Pica and the theater company Tribueñe, as well as designing album covers for bands like Rufus T. Firefly, Inlogic, and Psilicon Flesh.
